Which Diameter Should You Choose?

From Ø4 mm (fine cord) up to Ø12 mm: Ø6 mm for light holding, Ø8 mm for everyday tie-down, Ø10 to 12 mm for heavy tension. Available on 50 m and 100 m reels, or cut to length by the linear metre.

Single-Strand or Multi-Strand?

Our Sandow cords come in two core constructions. Single-strand cord is livelier and favours pulling strength; multi-strand cord, made up of several rubber strands, offers a softer, more even stretch that's nicer to handle. How Do You Choose the Right Sandow Cord?

The right Sandow cord comes down to how you'll use it. For everyday outdoor tie-down, an all-round polypropylene sheath is all you need. For repeated friction and heavy-duty use, choose a polyethylene sheath instead, which stands up better to abrasion. For marine environments, go for the PES version. If flexibility matters most, multi-strand cord is the more comfortable option; for maximum stretch, choose high-elasticity; to avoid marking a surface, go for flat cord. Colours and Colour-Coding

Black, white, grey, blue, red, green, yellow or NATO green depending on the model, giving you plenty of scope to match your setup or set up a colour-coding system.

Crimping a Fitting or Attaching a Hook

Crimping is the cleanest way to fit a Sandow cord: slide a metal sleeve over the cord end and the hook, then crush it in place with a crimping tool. On a suitable sheath, a screw-in hook fits without any tools; a knot (an overhand or double knot) will do for one-off use. You'll find hooks and loops matched to every diameter in the range, plus our ready-crimped bungee cords. Always choose a fitting in the correct diameter so it holds firm under tension.

Common Uses

Securing tarpaulins and loads, trailers, camping, boating, holding netting in place, event structures. The cord is fitted under tension, so allow a resting length of around 60 to 70% of the span you need to cover.
